A single slow draining sink or bathtub is usually a drain problem. For such drain-related issues, we offer our professional services for drain cleaning in Orillia, including all its neighbourhoods such as North Ward, South Ward, Downtown, Couchiching Point, West Ridge, etc. However, the problem is bigger and more serious when several fixtures act up at once. This is generally a sign of trouble with the main sewer line that carries everything out of the house. Get in touch with us right away if you notice the following:
That last one is the classic sign of a tree root in sewer line. Snaking cuts a hole through the roots, but they grow straight back through the same crack or joint. Thankfully, at Plumbing Medic, we own our excavators, hydrojetters and sewer cameras. So when we arrive at your property, we come in locked, loaded and ready to tackle all kinds of sewer issues.
Well, every main sewer call starts with a sewer camera inspection. We run the camera down the sewer line, locate any break or blockage, and mark its depth and position from above ground. You see the footage on the screen with us in real time and in high definition!
That footage settles the important questions before you spend anything:
We explain what we see and give you the price before any work starts. We even offer our cutting-edge sewer camera inspection for free when we’re out for a main sewer line repair or sewer line replacement call. Plus, for every new customer, we give a $50 discount, and seniors get to pay 50% on their HST!

Basically, we handle all kinds of sewer line repair and sewer line replacement in Orillia, Beaverton, Oro-Medonte, Severn, Ramara, Kawartha Lakes, Fenelon Falls, Lagoon City and nearby rural towns and villages across Simcoe County! We try to repair it before we ever suggest replacing it. Our plumbers don’t work on commission, so nobody gains from talking you into a bigger job.
Some of the services we perform are:
Sewer maintenance: We use hydrojetting, which is basically a high-pressure water jet, to blast away tree roots in sewer lines. This is usually our first line of sewer line repair, and is applicable in cases when roots or grease are narrowing the line but the pipe is still sound. Our state-of-the-art, high-pressure hydrojetters cut out the roots and scour the pipe clean. We perform another sewer camera inspection afterwards so you can see the line is clear.
Spot repair. If our sewer camera inspection finds one cracked or broken section, we dig at that exact spot and replace just that length of pipe. Since we have our own excavator, you don’t have to wait for a subcontractor to come and excavate. This is the most common fix for a cracked sewer line, and it’s far cheaper than replacing the whole run.
Trenchless sewer line repair with CIPP lining. When the pipe is cracked from multiple spots, or leaking along its length but still holds its shape, we can reline it from the inside with a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP). The way CIPP works is that we insert a resin-soaked liner into the sewer system and then pull it through the old line. Then we use heat to expand and harden it into a new pipe. Trenchless sewer line is a modern alternative to traditional dig-based sewer line repair. Instead of digging up the entire property, trenchless sewer line repair can essentially install a new sewer line without the need for costly digging and landscaping mess, and is generally faster to execute as well. It’s the best option under driveways, interlock, decks and mature trees.
Sewer line replacement. When a line has collapsed, sags badly, or is old clay or cast iron failing in several places, replacing it is the better long-term value. Depending on the site, we excavate with our own machine or use a trenchless method, then backfill and leave the yard tidy.
Sewer leak repair at the foundation. Leaks where the line exits the house or under the basement slab are repaired from inside or outside, whichever does the least damage.

While we’d love to mention a cost for sewer line repair in Orillia, or other cities in Simcoe County, the fact of the matter is that it depends heavily on what state we find your sewer line in. We do give you a firm, upfront price before we start and we stick to our quote, regardless of any unforeseen issues coming up. What we quote is what you pay, no more no less.
Still, just to give you a rough idea, these are typical cost figures when it comes to sewer line repair in Orillia or sewer line replacement in Orillia:
The biggest factors in calculating sewer line repair cost are depth, length, what sits on top of the line (lawn, driveway or interlock) pipe material, and whether the sewer can be relined instead of dug up. Owning our own excavator keeps our digging costs down, and that saving goes to you.

It depends on the damage, which is why we start with a camera inspection. Roots or buildup in a sound pipe are cleared with high-pressure jetting. One cracked section gets a spot repair. A pipe cracked along its length that still holds its shape can often be relined with CIPP, with no trench. A collapsed line needs replacing.
The cheapest replacement is the one you avoid. Many lines only need one section repaired, or can be relined with CIPP instead of dug up, which also saves restoring driveways and landscaping. When a full sewer line replacement in Orillia is needed, open excavation is often the most cost-effective method on lawns and rural lots, and our own excavator keeps that cost down.
In Orillia, property owners are responsible for the sewer lateral from the house to the city main. If the damage is between the property line and the main and you didn’t cause it, the City shares the cost 50/50, with a 50% deposit required first (City of Orillia). Our camera shows which side the problem is on. On a septic system, the whole line is yours.
Watch for several drains backing up at once, water coming up through the basement floor drain, gurgling toilets, sewage smells, or a soggy patch of lawn over the line. Drains that block again soon after snaking often point to a tree root in the sewer line. A camera inspection confirms the cause.
A small crack can sit for a while, but it rarely stays small. Roots find the crack and widen it, sewage leaks into the soil, and the pipe can eventually collapse and back up into your basement. Catching it early usually means a spot repair instead of a full replacement and avoidance of a nightmarish basement or foundation damage scenario.
Not often. A well-installed line lasts decades, and plastic (PVC or ABS) lines outlast older clay and cast iron. Many homes built before the 1980s still have clay or cast iron pipes, and those are the lines we see failing most around Orillia, Oro-Medonte, Beaverton and other cities across Simcoe County. A camera inspection tells you how much life your line has left.
Typical Ontario prices run about $950 to $3,750 for a spot repair, $3,000 to $8,000 for trenchless CIPP lining, and $4,000 to $15,000 or more for a full replacement. Depth, length and what sits above the line (lawn, driveway or interlock) drive the price. For sewer repair in Orillia, we inspect first and give you a firm price before any work starts.
